Scotland's first ever UEFA eEURO 2020 Qualifying campaign is set to begin.

34-year-old Frazer Young and 28-year-old Reece Devlin will represent Scotland in KONAMI and UEFA’s esports competition after successfully navigating the online qualifying phase in eFootball PES 2020 on PS4.

They now face Liechtenstein, Portugal, Romania and Slovenia in Group B of the online first group stage which starts on Monday, 9 March. The aim of the group stage, which runs until May, is to progress to the tournament final in London from 9–10 July.

Portugal are favourites to top Group B, with star man Christopher Maudo Morais a professional player who recently signed for Arsenal's eSports team.

Group Stage Format

The group stages will consist of a double round robin format, where countries will play each other twice, once as the home side and once away during separate match days. Scotland's two matchdays are Monday, 9 March and Monday, 23 March.

Both home and away matchups consist of a best-of-2 series, where the teams will play two matches back to back and add all the scored goals together. During this phase teams will play a total of 4 matches against all their opponents in their group.

Each member of the National Team has to play at least once in this phase of the tournament.

Winning a match grants the National Team 3 points, drawing grants 1 point and losing grants 0 points.

The winner of each group will qualify directly for the UEFA eEURO 2020 Final. The runner up from each group will then be drawn into 2 new groups of 5 teams. Each group will play in a double round robin format again. The point system and tiebreaker criteria remain the same as in the previous round. The top 3 teams in each of these groups will qualify for the UEFA eEURO 2020 Final.
