San Marino Stadium, Serravalle, San Marino

Scotland Under-21s face San Marino on Tuesday as the push for qualification continues following a stunning performance at Tynecastle on Friday night.

Scot Gemmill's side beat a difficult Czech Republic outfit 2-0 to close the gap with the table toppers to one point.

Team news

Head coach Scot Gemmill has had to make some changes since naming his squad.

Ryan Porteous and Robby McCrorie were the first to be called up to Steve Clarke’s side, with Ross McCrorie also joining up fresh off the back of netting the second goal in Edinburgh.

Bruce Anderson and Andy Irving joined up with the Under-21s for the trip to San Marino.

Thoughts from the head coach

Scot Gemmill praised the ability of his squad to execute their game plan following Friday night's 2-0 win.

The Under-21s head coach believes the group deserve credit for their application all over the park.

He said: “We put in a top performance on Friday. The players executed the game plan yet again and they deserve immense credit for that.

"It’s one thing for us to come up with the game plan but another for them to put it in to practice."

Tuesday night will offer a different type of challenge for the Under-21s and Gemmill is hoping his players show their ability in competitive action yet again.

“It’s going to be a very different game tomorrow but again it is the sort of experience we want for our players," the head coach said.

“We showed a certain type of performance against Czech Republic and we now have to come up with a new game plan for San Marino.

“I think it will be a different game with different challenges for the players, but that is what we want with international football.”

How things stand

Scotland sit just one point behind Czech Republic at the top of Group 4 following victory on Friday.

Yet another clean sheet for Scot Gemmill's side ensured another impressively organised performance was rewarded with three points.

Fraser Hornby and Ross McCrorie scored the goals at Tynecastle during an impressive night for the young team.
