Over 70 girls participated in “Fun Fours” in the sun on Sunday 27 May, when Beeslack Thistle FC hosted an under-9 girls’ festival.
Players from Boroughmuir Thistle, Eskmills, Linlithgow Rose, Loanhead Miners, North Berwick Colts and Spartans joined the Beeslack girls for a fantastic morning of football activity.
Lee Robertson, from Beeslack Thistle, said she was delighted with the turnout.
“It was a real family occasion and great to see so many parents, grand-parents and families coming out to support the girls," she added.
Karen McConnell, girls' and women's football development officer for the area, said: "The festival was an excellent example of parents and coaches promoting the Positive Coaching Scotland ethos of support and encouragement, allowing the girls to express and enjoy themselves in a positive environment.
"The girls’ enthusiasm and attitude throughout the morning was fantastic to see and all were a real credit to their clubs. I look forward to working with more clubs throughout the year who are interested in hosting similar events."
The star attraction at the event was Scotland Women’s “A” Squad Goalkeeper, Shannon Lynn, who helped run a goalkeeping station as part of the festival.
Shannon was on hand to give the young players an opportunity to practice basic goalkeeping skills and fun drills, and answer questions on her experiences playing at the top level in women’s football in Scotland.
