West Region Club Development Visit
Oban Saints Football Club hosted a club development in-service for Quality Mark, Clubs Oban Saints and Lochgilphead Soccer Centre at Oban Community Pitch on Monday 1st November 2010.
The weather was atrocious with driving wind and heavy rain, but around 40 coaches from both clubs attended the session delivered by Scottish FA West Region Club Development Manager Danny Bisland, Brian McLaughlin, Coach and Player Development Officer and Martin Rae, the Argyll and Bute Council Football Development Officer.
The session incorporated practices for 4's, 7's and 11-a-side teams and showed the link between the small sided game and 11-a-side football. The clubs in conjuction with local football development officer are now going to devise age specific in services and demonstrate how every age group and team will have an effect on the players, club and community as a whole.
David Buchanan Club Secretary/Treasurer for Oban Saints stated "As our club continues to grow and develop we believe it is key that the coaches realise the importance of age specific sessions and long term player development. This visit demonstrated to the group that the work carried out at 4 and 7-a-side game has a massive effect at the Youth and Amateur level.
Willie Luke, Coach Ambassador, Lochgilphead SC believes that "The session was very enlightening for the coaches. The content, for me, was perfect to assist moving football forward at the club and local area. It was great to hear the ethos being reinforced by the Regional Staff of the importance of the link between 4's - 7's and 11's."
These in services are available for all Quality Mark clubs in the Region, for further information please e-mail email@example.com
