Over 100 grassroots volunteer coaches attended the recent Scottish FA West Region in-service day at Petershill Park.

The regional in-service is an opportunity for hard-working volunteer coaches to attend technical sessions and pick up tips from coaches involved with professional clubs.

This year, the guest coaches joining Scottish FA coach and player development officer Brian McLaughlin, were Gerry Britton (Assistant Manager of Partick Thistle) and Gary Bennett (Youth Coach at Middlesbrough Academy).

The day started with Gary Bennett showing the group some of the different sessions that he uses for his youth teams within the academy.

Then it was over to Gerry Britton to demonstrate some of the pre-season sessions he has been using with the first team, before the group took part in some technical practices. The day finished with a Q&A session.

Paul McNeill, Scottish FA West Regional Manager, said: "These are always fantastic events to be involved in as it's an opportunity for all the volunteers to take away different training ideas that they can implement throughout the year."
