The Scottish Football Association are running three new coach education courses in the Western Isles for 2012.


 

Course: Level 2 Youth (Coaching Youth Footballers Certificate)
Venue: Stornoway
Date: Friday 2nd & Saturday 3rd March
Time: 6pm - 10.30pm & 9am - 2pm
Cost: £45 (£21 for Quality Mark Clubs)
This 12-hour course is designed to provide youth coaches with ideas on the key issues involved in the development of youth players. It takes account of individual skill development in a variety of game related situations. Prospective coaches will be given feedback on teaching practice sessions. Applicants must have completed the Development Activities certificate course.


 

Course: Level 2 Young (Coaching Young Footballers Certificate)
Venue: Stornoway
Date: Thursday 30th; Friday 31st August & Saturday 1st September
Time: 6pm - 9pm & 9am - 2pm
Cost: £45 (£21 for Quality Mark Clubs)
 
This 12-hour course is designed to assist coaches with the planning, preparation, organisation and evaluation of their coaching sessions and focuses on coaching style and the use of differentiation, i.e. provision of practices to suit the wide range of abilities within the primary school age group. Applicants must have completed the Early Touches certificate course.


 

Course: Level 3 Coaching in the Game
Venue: Stornoway
Date; Thursday 8th; Friday 9th & Saturday 10th November
Time: 6pm - 9pm & 9am - 2pm
Cost: £50 (£22 for Quality Mark Clubs)
In both Children’s and Youth Awards Structures, the 12-hour Coaching in the Game Certificate Course looks at the knowledge and understanding required to help young players appreciate concepts such as width, depth and support within the small-sided game. The course is largely practical in nature and prospective coaches are required to demonstrate the ability to coach basic strategies to young players. Applicants must have completed a Level Two course.


 

All participants will be issued with a certificate of attendance, a booklet and a DVD containing the course content on the day.
