The new intake to the Scottish FA’s Youth Ambassadors of Change programme has been announced, with twelve young people from across the country chosen, following a call for new applicants over the summer months.

The new group will now form the Scottish FA’s Youth Congress for the next two years, providing them with the chance to work with mentors across the association in a number of different fields.

Each of the youth ambassadors will also embark on a personal project over the course of their two-year stint, giving them the opportunity to make their mark on the national game.

Project topics for this latest in-take include creating a more inclusive and diverse environment in Scottish football, supporting girls and women to be involved in our game, engaging and supporting a new generation of referees, and enhancing the methods of communications with young people across the game.

Having been accepted into the programme, the group are now set to undertake an induction training period covering a whole range of topics, before beginning their term in office.

Speaking about the new in-take, Scottish FA Participation and Engagement Officer Kieren Mooney said:

“The Scottish FA places great importance on our Youth Ambassador of Change Programme. We are committed to ensuring that young people’s voices are included and respected in all decisions that affect them within the game.”

“Our new group of ambassadors come with a variety of different experiences in the game, from referees, coaches, players, and supporters. Our team of mentors in the association, and myself, are really excited to start working with them and look to create meaningful change within our game”.

The Youth Congress would love to hear from young people across Scotland about their views and opinions on Scottish football to help inform its work. You can do this by contacting us on Twitter or on our website contact form.
