The final Scottish FA Coach Education Continuous Professional Development (CPD) event of 2023 is set to take place this Sunday, with Alan Irvine and Mixu Paatelainen presenting to coaches.
There are still places available for the day and attendees should confirm their places through their Scottish FA Live account. It will take place at Norton House in Edinburgh, running from 10am to 4pm.
Alan Irvine played over 300 times for the likes of Everton, Crystal Palace and Blackburn Rovers during his playing career, before going on to manage Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday and West Bromwich Albion. He is now working as a Technical Advisor at West Ham United, alongside manager Davie Moyes.
Mixu Paatelainen, meanwhile, turned out over 500 times professionally for the likes of Dundee United, Hibernian and Wolves. He has also been coaching for just shy of two decades, notably managing Hibernian, Kilmarnock and the Finnish national team, among others.
It should be noted that this event will be an in-person event only, so coaches interested in attending should not miss this final opportunity to gain accredited CPD hours before the year end.
Alan Irvine worked as an assistant manager to Moyes at the Hammers, before moving into his current Technical Advisor role in 2021. He was a part of the West Ham staff as the club won the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League - the club's first piece of major silverware in over 40 years.
Irvine will present on 'Utilising a Back Three' - a presentation he has developed since working with Moyes at the London club.
Paatelainen - a 70-cap Finland international - has also served as a Technical Observer for UEFA, working across their three club competitions: the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League.
He will present on key trends in the UEFA's flagship competition, the UEFA Champions League, in particular.
