Kilbirnie Community Football Club (KCFC) are the first club in the South West to achieve Legacy Quality Mark status.

The Legacy level is the top level of award on the scheme which is designed to support and recognise the work of clubs and teams who have a desire to be the very best they can be.

Explaining why the award was given, Scottish FA South West regional manager John Brown said: “KCFC was established in 2006, bringing together nine separate youth teams in the town and the club continues to develop with a full player pathway through Kilbirnie Amateurs, Kilbirnie Ladeside Juniors to the Valley Vets Over 35s and Super Vets Over 55s.

“KCFC has also added a thriving girls section and a new team this year for KCFC Mums which has proved very popular.

“We are delighted that the club’s hard work has been recognised with Legacy level Quality Mark.

“The South-West Regional Committee were very impressed by the presentation delivered by chairman Stevie Wilson and treasurer Neil Cairns and also by the variety of programmes the club deliver to the benefit of the local community.

“This award is real credit to so many people at the club who work tirelessly to develop football in the local area.  We know this is only the next story in the club’s journey, and we look forward to continuing to support KCFC going forward."

KCFC Chairman Stevie Wilson said: “KCFC are delighted to have qualified for the Legacy award after a lot of hard work, both on and off the park, putting together all the ingredients for a successful presentation.

“Kilbirnie have been and always will be supporters of the initiatives promoted by the Quality Mark programme.

"We are appreciative of the coach education available, encourage the Positive Coaching Scotland ideals and are proud that we can offer team or community football activities from age three with our  Mini Kickers to our over 55s Super Veterans, available to both boys and girls, men and Ladies via our KCFC Mums.

“Achieving this award cements our resolve to be at the forefront of Community Football and is appreciated as a reward to all the hard working members who make it all possible.”
