Scotland Women’s National Team Head Coach, Melissa Andreatta conducted the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup Round Three draw this evening, marking the next exciting step in this season’s competition.
The draw followed a thrilling Round Two weekend, where fans were treated to a feast of goals — 79 scored across 12 fixtures — as teams battled for their place in the next round.
A total of twelve sides progressed from Round Two, and they will now be joined by all twenty SWPL 1 and SWPL 2 clubs in Round Three.
The third-round ties will be played on Sunday, 7 December.
Hot off the back of an international double-header against Morocco and Switzerland, Andreatta reflected on a positive window for the Scotland Women’s National Team: “It was so beneficial in many different aspects. We were exposed to two very different styles of play as well as the environment and travel components.
“The window provided different challenges and I’m super keen that we get as much experience as possible ahead of our qualifiers next year. The most pleasing aspect is that we’ve made more progress, building from last window and that’s what we want to keep doing.”
In-between international windows, the Scotland boss has been enjoying the offerings from Scotland’s domestic game, she said it’s great to be immersed in the SWPL: “I’m really enjoying getting out and about every weekend. It keeps me connected to the clubs and the players which I think is really important. From a performance perspective, it’s also really exciting to see the talent that’s out there and coming through the ranks.”
Ahead of tomorrow’s FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification draw, the Andreatta admits it’s an exciting time ahead of a crucial year: “We can’t wait to find out who we’ll face. I’m excited to know the opposition and as soon as we know that we can push on and get those final preparations in place.
“This is the next step on our journey and it’s a really exciting moment for us as a group.”
