Scotland Under-19s manager Billy Stark praised the efforts of his players after their 1-0 win over Germany.

The youngsters clinched top spot in their Qualifying group thanks to a well-taken goal from Josh McPake and a stunning team performance.

Stark, who was delighted with his entire team's performance, insisted his players should not get carried away.

He said: "I'm absolutely thrilled, we want to try and not get carried away but there is no doubt that tonight was a significant win.

"To qualify as top of the group is a great achievement, especially when Germany are in your group."

He added: "We've come under some pressure in the second half but had plenty of chances of our own. Kai Kennedy hits the post and Dickson and Ross both had good chances. We had the opportunity to go and play and we did.

"It's difficult to single anyone out on a night like tonight. All the boys were fantastic and it really was a team effort."

Speaking after the match, goalscorer Josh McPake said: "We're all buzzing in the changing rooms, it's a good win and we deserved it.

"Obviously I was delighted to score the goal. I've given Dean [Campbell] the eyes and he's slid the ball into me and I did the rest. We had more good chances in the second half as well and could have scored more.

"We now look forward to the Elite round which we are all excited for."
