Scotland's 2022 Victory Shield campaign ended this afternoon as Stuart Glennie's side suffered a 4-1 defeat to the Republic of Ireland.
That victory was enough for the Irish to claim the Victory Shield on home soil, while Scotland had to settle for a second-place finish in the historic tournament.
Scotland had come flying out of the traps in the competition's opening match against Northern Ireland, with James Wilson's penalty putting us 1-0 in front early on.
Sam Chambers' driving run and finish doubled the advantage and it was 3-0 before the break as Wilson rounded the goalkeeper before slotting home.
Although Northern Ireland pulled a goal back in the second half, it was a hugely impressive performance from the Scots.
The second match against Wales was all about character as Glennie's side came from behind to secure back-to-back wins.
Aidan Borland grabbed his first goal of the tournament to make it 1-0, but Scotland found themselves 2-1 down at half-time before a deflected effort from Chambers brought parity at 2-2.
And there was still time for a winner, as Lewis Pirie finished off a slick move with a precise left-footed effort from just inside the box to make it 3-2 and seal the points.
The two victories left Scotland in a strong position going into the final match, but Republic of Ireland proved too much on home soil.
The impressive Ike Orazi made it 1-0 and the winger had a hand in the second goal for the hosts too as he was involved in build up down the left-hand side that led to Mason Melia steering in the second.
Scotland deservedly got back into the match just before the break though, as Lewis Pirie's shot on the turn cannoned off the post and Ronan Ferns was on hand to volley home.
However, despite enjoying lots of the ball and creating some chances, Scotland were unable to draw level, and two more late Irish goals sealed their victory.
Glennie's side can take heart from the performances over the past week as they return with a second-placed finish in the historic tournament.
