Estadio Algarve, Faro, Portugal

Scorers

Scotland: Christie (59), Adams (85).

Ryan Christie and Che Adams made the difference in Faro as Scotland stepped up preparations for UEFA EURO 2024.

Team News

Steve Clarke said he would field a 'slightly unfamiliar' line-up in this penultimate friendly before UEFA EURO 2024 and he was true to his word.

Zander Clark got the nod in goal and there was a senior international debut for Ross McCrorie.

There was also a first appearance for James Forrest since the opening game of UEFA EURO 2020 against Czech Republic.

Andy Robertson led the team out in his 70th appearance for his country - which leaves him eighth in the all-time list.

As It Happened

After some early Scotland pressure, Christie turned in the first real effort of note on nine minutes, when his strike stung the palms of Jaylan Hankins.

Grant Hanley wasn't far off either, two minutes later, when he headed down and over the bar.

Forrest was next to try his luck. After some great interplay between Lawrence Shankland and Robertson, Forrest pulled his shot just wide of the near post.

Kenny McLean's clipped cross then found Ryan Christie, but he blazed his side-foot volley high.

Robertson's deliveries from the left were consistently good, and McLean was next to connect with one of his crosses. He just couldn't get his header on target.

The skipper turned provider again on 35 minutes, with his corner picking out Hanley. The keeper was equal to it and Ryan Porteous just couldn't quite force home the rebound.

Hanley had an even better chance to edge Scotland ahead, but screwed wide from close range.

He was replaced by Liam Cooper at half-time, who headed over within a couple of minutes of being introduced.

The breakthrough finally came on 58 minutes. Robertson worked the ball to the back post, a bit of skill from Christie took him clear and he made no mistake with his finish.

Clarke continued to shuffle the park, with Che Adams and Kieran Tierney introduced for Forrest and Robertson.

Callum McGregor and Ryan Jack quickly followed - taking the place of McLean and Billy Gilmour.

With 13 minutes to go, Cooper was forced to limp off after being on the receiving end of a heavy tackle. Scott McKenna replaced him.

Sub Adams clinched the win with a thumping strike at the far post from a John McGinn cross.
