UEFA Under-19 EURO 2025: Qualifying Round
Tuesday, 19 November - 7:30pm kick-off
Forthbank Stadium, Stirling
Scotland Men's Under-19s kick off their UEFA EURO 2025 qualifying campaign in Stirling on Wednesday, with Neil MacFarlane's side facing Wales at Forthbank Stadium
Scotland then play Liechenstein and France in their other Group 5 matches, with the top two sides advancing to the Elite Round, which will take place in March. All games are free entry for supporters.
MacFarlane took up his role as Under-19s Head Coach in the summer and his side have won four and drawn one of his first five matches in charge.
Scotland Men's Under-19s progressed from this stage last year, with a squad including the likes of David Watson, Bobby Wales and Daniel Kelly finishing top of their group, with two wins and a draw. But Scotland were unable to repeat their form in the Elite Round, failing to qualify from a group that included Italy, Georgia and Czech Republic.
Team News
Gabriel Forsyth and Tyler Fletcher are the two withdrawals from the original squad, with Daniel Cummings and Bailey Rice coming in in their place.
Striker Rory Wilson is also absent through injury, although the Under-19 squad is boosted by the inclusions of midfielder Lennon Miller and striker Ryan One, who have both featured for the Under-21s in recent games.
Pre Tournament Thoughts
Scotland's Sam Chambers: "I’m looking forward to it a lot. These trips always improve me as a player and I can see that when I get back to my club.
"Because we’re playing against top-level opponents from other countries I feel it really stretches me and helps me a lot.
"I’ve been with the first-team at Leeds since pre-season. I went away to Germany with them and I’ve been involved ever since. Playing with such good players, you have to increase your levels but I’ve found it makes me feel sharper. The levels in training are ridiculous and there’s so many top players.
"Making my debut was the most surreal moment of my career so far. It had been coming for a few weeks because I’d been around the first-team and we were winning 3-0 so it was a bit easier to put on some youngsters I think! But I came on with 20 minutes to go so I got quite a good run-out which I wasn’t expecting so that was great.
"Obviously we play Wales and Liechtenstein in out first two matches. We know they won’t be easy games but we have to be looking to win and then we play France last who are always one of the best teams in world so that will be tough be hopefully be can be competitive."
