UEFA EURO 2024 qualifier
Scotland v Spain
Tuesday, 28 March 2023 (kick-off 7.45pm)
Hampden Park, Glasgow
Scotland are hoping to build on a successful start to our UEFA EURO 2024 qualification campaign with the visit of Spain to Hampden Park on Tuesday night.
Spain, too, kicked off Group A in style with a 3-0 victory of their own against Norway - with Dani Olmo and Joselu (2) on target.
TEAM NEWS
Striker Ché Adams picked up an injury in the head-to-head with Cyprus and, unfortunately, will have to sit out the game against Spain - along with Anthony Ralston.
Heart of Midlothian front-man Lawrence Shankland has been added to the squad in their place.
PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS
Aaron Hickey was a stand-out for Scotland on the right-hand side of defence - playing with a quiet confidence that he says is shared around the group.
Pointing out the work that's done in advance of these games between the coaching staff and players, he said: "It all adds up to days like Saturday.
"It wasn't the easiest game and the boys would say it maybe wasn't our best performance, but we got the job done and that's what you want to kick off a qualification campaign.
"It sets us up for another big game against Spain.
"I've been talking about this game with David Raya, who I play with at Brentford. We've given each other a bit of stick.
"Hopefully I can go back to Brentford with something to shout about.
"He's a great player, in a squad of great players and we know what kind of challenge we're facing.
"The manager always has a plan for us going into games, so it's about us sticking to that and working hard for each other, then seeing where it takes us.
"As much as we've worked on understanding their strengths, we have to believe in what we can do."
