Alison McGregor, experienced Corporate Chair and Non-Executive Director joins with pledge to help super-charge Power of Football

The Scottish FA welcomes Alison McGregor as the organisation’s new Independent Non-Executive Director.

Alison replaces the outgoing Ana Stewart, who has served the association with distinction since 2017.

Alison is currently Non-Executive Chair of The Malcolm Group, the UK logistics, rail and construction business, an Independent Non-Executive Director of Scottish Power Energy Networks, the energy Distribution and Transmission Network Operator, and an Independent Director of Fidelity Special Values PLC, an actively managed UK investment trust.

Alison enjoyed a well-established career in the banking industry, culminating in her most recent position as CEO of HSBC Scotland. Previous roles also include non-executive positions with the Beatson Cancer Charity, The Confederations of British Industries [CBI] and Chair of the Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board [SAAB].

She has also served as Chair and non-executive director of the Confederation of British Industry [CBI], as well as non-executive positions with Scottish Power Energy Networks and Beatson Cancer Charity.

Alison McGregor: “First and foremost I am a fan of our national game and join at a very exciting time for the men’s and women’s games both internationally and domestically.

“I look forward to bringing some of my experience in business to a board that is committed to making sure the power of football inspires the country and transforms lives.”

Alison took up her role on 14 December and the Scottish FA President, Mike Mulraney, believes her corporate skills and experience will be integral to the plan to increase public and private investment in facilities.

“Firstly, I would like to thank Ana for her six years as a board member and as a colleague. She was a passionate advocate for equality and the growth of the girls and women’s game and was a key member of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board.

“Alison brings significant experience in the business and charity sectors and as we look to spread the positive impacts of our national game across the country - not least in maintaining, sustaining and attaining facilities across the football estate in Scotland - I am sure she will bring a fresh perspective and dynamism to reinforce the many social benefits of the national game in Scotland.”
