On Monday 28th November East Dunbartonshire held the second Football Forum of the year. After the success of its first back in February, the line up of guests was invited based on feedback from that and it was just as impressive as at the first. Panellists on the night were Gerry Cornes, Chief Executive of the Council, Alistair Ewen, the Council’s Facilities Team Leader, Andrew Gilchrist, Regional Manager for the Central Region and Alan Taylor, Football Development Manager for Dunbartonshire and Lanarkshire. Topics covered included the New Scotland United Strategy, Gift Aid possibilities for Clubs and Accessing Council Facilities. With more than 7 clubs represented with over 20 coaches on the night, the evening was definitely lively with many coming armed with numerous questions which kept the panel on their toes. The evening also included the Quality Mark presentation for East Dunbartonshire’s newest Quality Mark Club, Rosebank Utd who recently achieved the Standard level. The Award, part of the Quality Mark Accreditation Scheme run by the Scottish FA in partnership with McDonald’s and sportscotland, recognises pro-active clubs and schools working to increase youth and community participation. All feedback and additional questions raised on the night will be investigated and a newsletter will be distributed in due course updating everybody on the issues discussed.
