Scotland Women’s National team are preparing for their penultimate match of 2025 as they face Ukraine at Estadio Municipal de Chapín in Jerez on Friday.

Melissa Andreatta’s side go into the first match in this international window off the back of a narrow 4-3 defeat against Switzerland at KDM Group East End Park. The October international window also saw the Australian secure her first victory as Scotland Head Coach with a 2-1 win over Morocco in Casablanca.

SWNT will face China PR next week with both games serving as preparation for the 2026 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Luxembourg, Belgium and Israel.

The last time Scotland faced Ukraine was in 2022 World Cup qualifiers. A match which saw Scotland run out 4-0 winners, courtesy of goals from Erin Cuthbert, Caroline Weir and a brace from Martha Thomas.

Ukraine go into the match following a 1-1 draw with Romania and a 2-1 over Slovakia in October international friendlies.

Team news

Kathleen McGovern and Sam Kerr both drop out of the squad due to injury and are replaced by Maria McAneny and Chelsea Cornet. Miri Taylor has been called up for the first time and Leah Eddie returns after being side-lined due to injury.

Pre-match thoughts…

Scotland Head Coach, Melissa Andreatta on hopes for this international window: “I think with these two games, it's again about being exposed to two different teams. One that might be very technical and a bit more direct, also another team still very technical but have massive physical presence in the front line and we've seen similarities too between Ukraine and Luxembourg as well as Belgium and China.

“I think using that experience to prepare for those windows will be good for us, but also just having time together. This still is only my third window and just having this time together in one location is super important for both players and staff.

“I think getting to reinforce our processes and to keep building on those connections but also continue to build on and progress our playing style is super important in these two games. We want to get results. It's what we're in the business of and that's what we'll be aiming to do.”
