The Scotland Women’s National Team will warm up for their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification campaign as they travel to Northern Ireland and Wales for two friendly matches in early June.
Scotland will first travel to Belfast to take on Kenny Shiels’ Northern Ireland side on Thursday, 10 June. They will then travel to Llanelli to take on a Wales side who they last faced in 2017 in the Cyprus Cup, on Tuesday, 15 June.
The matches will act as preparation for Scotland as they set their sights on their FIFA World Cup Qualifying double header in September, against Hungary and Faroe Islands. Scotland were also drawn with Spain and Ukraine in their World Cup Qualifying group.
Stuart McLaren will lead the team as interim head coach after being in charge in February for the 10-0 win against Cyprus and narrow defeat to Portugal.
Scottish FA Head of Girls’ and Women’s Football Fiona McIntyre said: “These two matches will act as invaluable preparation for the team as they look towards their next two competitive matches in September. Against two improving nations in women’s football these games will offer an opportunity for the team to prepare for what lies ahead as we aim for back-to-back World Cup qualification."
