The Scottish FA has today launched its search for the next group of young people to help us shape the future of the game in Scotland. The Youth Ambassadors of Change programme, allows a group of young people to share their views & opinions on a range of issues that affect them and their experience of the game. This represents the third group of young people taking part in the programme.

Supported by UEFA’s Football Social Responsibility Hat Trick programme, the programme will see some of Scotland’s most passionate young people form the Scottish FA’s Youth Congress for the next two years. They will come together three times a year in a consultation style youth forum and give their views and opinions on matters that affect young people within Scotland’s national game.

Youth Ambassadors are asked for their views on a range of issues which the Scottish FA knows are important to young people and directly affect the experience of young people in the game. However, the programme also offers the space for young people to present their thoughts and ideas on other projects to the Scottish FA, with a view to making a tangible difference within Scottish football.

Outgoing Youth Ambassador Jack McKeown shared his experience of the programme and encouraged the next generation to apply:

“The Youth Ambassador programme cares about young people and it aims to be a driving force for change in Scottish football. It has provided me with so many opportunities that would not have been possible if I wasn’t a part of the programme. These opportunities allowed me to develop myself in ways that I could have never imagined. I would recommend any young person involved in Scottish football to sign up for the programme; you won’t regret it.”

Another outgoing Youth Ambassador, Anna O’Donnell had this to say:

“The programme has been a game changer for me. Personally, it has pushed me to develop skills and put myself out there. Coming out of the programme, I have a strong network of like-minded, diverse young people across Scotland which is invaluable for me moving forward.”

“The programme is also demonstrative of the Scottish FA’s commitment to listening to young people. This programme has allowed us to make genuine, tangible change and has given young people a voice in important and relevant conversations.”
