Scottish FA President Alan McRae has today congratulated Kenny Dalglish as the Scotland legend receives a knighthood in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
“Kenny is thoroughly deserving of this honour; through his feats on the pitch as Scotland’s record cap-holder and joint top scorer, his unrivalled achievements in club football and his time as a manager he is a giant of not just Scottish, but world football.
“It is also fitting that Kenny’s efforts away from the pitch are recognised; his unwavering support showed to the families of Hillsborough victims and survivors, his work for The Marina Dalglish Appeal and his role as an ambassador for Grassroots football in Scotland. These show the measure of a truly iconic figure that transcends the beautiful game.
“On behalf of the Scottish FA, I pass on my warmest congratulations to Kenny and his family on this tremendous honour.”
