The SSE Scottish Women’s Cup Final 2019
Glasgow City FC vs Hibernian FC
Sunday, 24 November 2019, kick off 4.10pm
Tynecastle Park, Edinburgh
Two of Scottish Women’s Football most successful clubs go head-to-head in the SSE Scottish Women's Cup final at Tynecastle.
Both Glasgow City and Hibernian, having had successful 2019 seasons and creating Champions League history along the way, will be aiming to add further domestic silverware on Sunday.
Hibernian, who are serial winners of the tournament, are just 90 minutes away from clinching a fourth consecutive SSE Scottish Women’s Cup title.
The showpiece fixture is set to be a fantastic day out for the whole family, with lots to do pre-match in Gorgie.
This season there have been four meetings between the two sides and each of them were very tight affairs.
Glasgow City came out on top in the first meeting in the league, with a narrow 1-0 win thanks to a Leanne Crichton header in the final 20 minutes at Ainslie Park.
The next meeting of the two teams was the 2019 SWPL Cup Final on Friday, 10 May. Nothing could separate the sides after 90 minutes plus extra-time. Hibernian eventually came out on top on penalties, winning 4-2 and with thanks to Jenna Fife between the posts.
The two sides have met twice since in the league, with Glasgow City prevailing in both matches. City won 2-1 at Petershill Park back in August and 3-1 at Ainslie Park last month.
Glasgow City midfielder Rachel McLauchlan made her switch from Hibernian during the off season and spoke about the challenge that awaits her and her teammates on Sunday.
She said: “Hibs are a very good team, we all know that. They have massive threats that we need to be aware of. We need every single player in our team to be up for the challenge and perform to their best level.
“We are all really looking forward to it. We want to get the cup back to Glasgow. We really want it.”

Following an historic season for Glasgow City, the Scotland international believes that clinching the trophy on Sunday 'would be the cherry on top'.
Lining up in the opposition at Tynecastle on Sunday will be Hibernian captain and Scotland International Joelle Murray.
Speaking ahead of her fifth consecutive SSE Scottish Women’s Cup Final appearance, she said: “We are excited. It’s the last game of a very long season, and it’s the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup. If you are involved in football, the Scottish Cup is a very prestigious tournament, so to be part of it is a very proud moment for me.”
When asked what it would mean to win the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup Final on Sunday, she added: “It would be fantastic. To win the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup title is a great achievement, and to do it potentially four times in a row would be incredible. To do it at Tynecastle, would just add to that feeling.”
