William Hill Scottish Cup Second Round

On Saturday the William Hill Scottish Cup Second Round will take place with excitement building around clubs across the country.

The preliminary rounds kicked-off on 13 August and now teams are setting their sights on the latter rounds.

On Saturday there will be 16 matches across Scotland where the first round top scorer’s East Kilbride look for an upset away from home against Cowdenbeath.

They humbled Vale of Leithen 9-1 in September with 41-year-old Robbie Winters notching two goals.

Brora Rangers take on Clyde for the second time in three years after they were drawn against each other in 2013. Clyde ran out 2-1 winners in the Third Round then.

This is only BSC Glasgow’s second year in the Scottish Cup.

They take on Beith Juniors in the Second Round having failed to get past the First Round last year. They lost against Ayrshire side Auchinleck Talbot after a replay.

Linlithgow Rose are taking on League 2 side Stirling Albion at home and will be quietly confident after going on a cup run last season.

They reached the fifth round, sensationally beating Forfar in a fourth round replay before exiting to a 4-2 defeat against Ross County.

It is 10 years since Gretna reached the Scottish Cup Final and their reincarnations Gretna 2008 will be hoping to reach the third round for the first time, taking on Highland League leaders, Buckie Thistle.

University of Stirling have a tall order, taking the trip to Gayfield to face League 2 side Arbroath. They have the only female manager in Scottish football, with former women’s internationalist Shelley Kerr in charge of the students.

This season the Scottish FA are taking the famous William Hill Scottish Cup out to clubs around Scotland and will feature a particular game across their social media channels.

On Saturday the trophy is off to Broadwood Stadium for Cumbernauld Colts against Forres Mechanics.

Meanwhile our resident blogger David Stoker will be providing a round-up of the day from Buckie Thistle against Gretna 2008.
