Eight matches were scheduled across the Scottish Gas Men's Scottish Cup and the Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup, with the action getting underway at Tynecastle on Friday evening as Hearts hosted Dundee in the men's competition.

Scottish Gas Men's Scottish Cup

Hearts got the bumper Quarter-Final weekend off for a flier when January signing Sander Kartum scored his first goal in Scottish football with a superb first-time finish into the top corner.

Dundee had been on a poor run but they hit back, with Oluwaseun Adewumi hitting the woodwork, before Joe Shaughnessy headed the Dens Park side level in the second half.

The parity would not last long though, as the unfortunate Simon Murray deflected Blair Spittal's free-kick into his own net and Kartum's second goal - a poked finish from outside the box - settled the contest and Hearts sent back to Hampden.

Aberdeen were in action on Saturday lunchtime as they took on Queen's Park. The Spiders created Scottish Cup history by defeating Rangers at Ibrox in the Fifth Round but there would be no repeat at Pittodrie as the Dons produced a professional performance to secure a comfortable victory.

Kevin Nisbet continued his recent resurgence with a deft finish from a corner to open the scoring and Oday Dabbagh slid home from Shayden Morris' low centre to double the scoring before the half hour mark.

Graeme Shinnie made it 3-0 before the break, and Morris once again set up Dabbagh who again fired home from close range to make it 4-0.

Zak Rudden bundled home from close range to pull a goal back but that would just be a consolation for Callum Davidson's side as Aberdeen confirmed their place in Monday's Semi-Final Draw.

Celtic faced a Hibs side on Sunday who were unbeaten in 15 matches, but Brendan Rodgers' boasts a formidable record in the Scottish Cup and this would continue as the Hoops recorded a 2-0 victory.

Daizen Maeda smashed home the opener after Nicolas Kuhn's initial shot was saved and Celtic passed up numerous chances to extend their lead before Adam Idah eventually slotted home to make it 2-0 in added time to seal the win.

Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup

The four Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup all took place on an action-packed Sunday afternoon, and Glasgow City - who have won this competition a record nine times - had to do it the hard way once again as they booked their place in the last four.

City saw off Celtic in a dramatic five-goal thriller in the last round and they eventually saw off Hearts by the same scoreline at Oriam on Sunday afternoon.

Nicole Kozlova and Bayley Hutchison traded goals in the first half and Hutchison then put Hearts ahead in the second half. Lisa Forrest then scored 10 minutes from time to force extra-time and Kimberley Smit prodded home from a corner as City edged through to the Semi-Finals.

Holders Rangers also progressed to the last four although they were made to work by an impressive Spartans side. The game remained goalless until the 68th minute when sub Camille Lafaix broke the deadlock with a low left-footed shot from the edge of the area. Kirsty Howat then drove home to seal a 2-0 win for Rangers.

St Johnstone were the lowest ranked side remaining in the competition and they threatened a shock against SWPL1 side Aberdeen when Evie McLean gave them an early lead. But Holly McEvoy headed the Dons level after Eva Thomson had hit the bar and Aberdeen took control in the second half as Toni Leigh Finnegan tapped home. Kerry Beattie added a third and Finnegan made it 4-1 as Aberdeen secured their passage to Hampden.

Motherwell also saw off SWPL2 opposition as they defeated Boroughmuir Thistle 3-0 in Sunday's other match. Three first half goals were enough for the Well, as Louisa Boyes fired in an opener before Katie Rice’s whipped corner-kick bundled into the back of the net to extend the visitors' lead.

Captain Gill Inglis then curled home a third before the break as Motherwell confirmed their place in Monday evening's draw.

St Johnstone 1-4 Aberdeen
Rangers 2-0 Spartans
