The William Hill Scottish Cup holders St Johnstone will not be regaining the trophy, as they lost to Queen of the South on an exciting day of fifth round action.

Derek Lyle and Gavin Reilly were on target for the Doonhamers, as they booked their place in the quarter-finals at the expense of the Premiership side. 

Lowland League outfit Spartans left it late against League Two Berwick Rangers, securing a replay at Shielfield Park with a 93rd miniute goal from Ally MacKinnon.

In theSaturday lunchtime kick-off, Celtic defeated Dundee 2-0 at Dens Park thanks to goals from Leigh Griffiths and Stefan Johansen.

Elsewhere, Inverness Caledonian Thistle defeated Partick Thistle 2-1 at Firhill, while Falkirk and Hibernian ensured their progression in the tournament, defeating Brechin City and Arbroath respectively.

Dundee United and Raith Rovers secured their places in the draw on Sunday, with United defeating Stranraer 3-0 and Rovers winning 2-1 away at Rangers.
