William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final
Celtic v Rangers
Sunday, 23 April 2017, kick-off 12 noon
Hampden Park

For the second successive year, Rangers and Celtic face each other in a mouth-watering semi-final encounter at Hampden Park.

In 2016 it was Rangers who reigned victorious in a dramatic penalty shoot-out and this year they are on the lookout for their only piece of silverware this season while Celtic are targeting the treble.

Three stand-out Celtic v Rangers semi-finals:

Rangers 2-1 Celtic - April 7, 1996

Rangers were en route to their ninth title in a row on their way to a ninth straight league title when they met Celtic at Hampden. Paul Gascoigne and co. defeated Tommy Burns’ team thanks to goals from Ally McCoist and Brian Laudrup.

Celtic 1-2 Rangers - April 5, 1998

Ally McCoist was the hero at Parkhead with Hampden being renovated. McCoist turned out to be the hero for Smith’s men at ‘neutral’ Parkhead. McCoist nodded home the opener before Jorg Albertz sealed the win late on.

Rangers 2-2 Celtic (Rangers win 5-4 on penalties) – April 17, 2016

An enthralling Hampden clash ended as a slatemate after 90 minutes and in the Old Firm’s first ever penalty shoot-out, the battle was decided when Tom Rogic missed his sudden-death effort.
