Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup Semi-Final
Rangers v Celtic
Saturday, 27 April 2024, kick off 12:15pm
Hampden Park
Rangers and Celtic meet in the first match of the weekend, is a re-run of the 2023 Scottish Cup Final which was won by Celtic.
The match will kick off at 12:15pm live on BBC One Scotland.
Previous Meetings
Last season's cup final was a historic occasion in the first season since the competition had been revamped and in the first to be played at the National Stadium.
In front of a crowd of over 10,000, Celtic eventually triumphed 2-0 with goals from Natasha Flint and Claire O'Riordan to lift the trophy.
Celtic and Rangers have met five times since in three different competitions, with Rangers holding the slight advantage. They defeated Celtic 2-1 in the Glasgow Cup in the summer and also won by the same scoreline in the league in October.
In the League Cup Semi-Final in January, there was late drama as Chloe Craig's penalty made it 2-2 in the last minute - only for Rio Hardy to score a penalty of her own deep into stoppage time to win it for the Gers.
Celtic have wrestled back the momentum in the fixture, however, with a 1-1 draw before a 2-1 win inspired by last year's cup final hero Flint.
Cup Form
Celtic first won the Scottish Cup in 2022 when they defeated Glasgow City 3-2 at Tynecastle and they backed up that win in the revamped competition last year.
That cup final last year was Rangers' first appearance in the Final and Jo Potter's side will be looking to get their hands on the trophy for the first time.
Both sides have enjoyed comfortable runs to the Semi-Final so far.
Rangers scored 21 unanswered goals in their first two matches against Inverness Caledonian Stadium and Dundee United.
In the Quarter-Final they faced a tougher test against Hibernian and the game was finely poised at 2-2 going into the last 25 minutes before Rangers' eventually cut loose, as Sarah Ewens, Rio Hardy and Jane Ross all got on the scoresheet in a 6-2 win.
Celtic faced three away matches but they are yet to concede in the competition after securing a 7-0 win against Ayr United and then back-to-back 6-0 wins against Hamilton Academical and Montrose.
Pre-Match Thoughts
Rangers' Kirsty Howat: "I think it’s been a good season so far. We retained the League Cup and went on a really long unbeaten run in the league.
"Obviously it was disappointing when that run came to an end but we’re still in the title race and today we’ve got a Scottish Cup Semi-Final at Hampden to focus on.
"Jo Potter's had a big impact for sure. She’s changed the style in which we play which has freshened things up a bit. That’s also meant we have had to adapt as players too but she’s been really clear on her instructions.
"I think you can really see how that comes together on a Sunday and in particular the attacking style we play with.
"If you want to win a trophy you’ve got to play everyone and beat everyone so we’re really looking forward to the game. These are the games you want to play in, an Old Firm derby at Hampden is extra exciting."
Celtic's Natasha Flint: "It’s a game I look forward to playing. It’s going to be a massive occasion and hopefully we can progress and I can get the opportunity to stick another trophy and medal in my cabinet at home.
"I like collecting as many as possible and have been fortunate over my career to have done that both at Celtic and when playing in England.
"It would be massive to score the winning goal again, I’m there to be a threat.
"I think everybody knows that, but to be honest it doesn’t matter who scores the goals as long as we get through to the Final."
